Growth in Heredia
In April of 2007 the Lord allowed us to take on a rescue work in this storefront in Heredia along with Habacuc and Manuel; two men from Guadalupe. The church had been started a year earlier by another missionary who subsequently left the field.
This was the first Sunday I preached in Heredia. 10 people were in attendance counting my family and Manuel.
We immediately started knocking on doors in the area. Our first set of tracts were donated and didn’t come folded so we had to fold them by hand. Some people from Guadalupe came over to help us on our first big day of soulwinning.
As people get saved we encourage them to follow the Lord in believers baptism. This is the group that showed up the first time we baptized. Many of these people came just to see a loved one baptized and later recieved Christ as thier Saviour.
Soon there were several teenagers coming. We started a Sunday school class for them and started having youth meetings once a month. This is picture of Manuel leading the very first one.
As things have grown we now have Sunday school class for the children as well as Junior church.
On November 10th 2007 the Lord allowed us to start using the unit next to ours as an auditorium. Now we have a seperate space for adult Sunday school class as well as the preaching services. There are 50 chairs in there…please pray the Lord will fill them up!
Praise the Lord! As of January 2008 Habacuc has fully assumed the pastorate of Iglesia Biblica Bautista de Heredia. He and Manuel will continue to press forward in Heredia as we move on to start a new work in Cartago.
